The Psalmist encourages us to make a joyful noise unto the Lord . . . and yesterday we most certainly fulfilled his charge. The wonderful thing about our days of celebration through music and worship is that I know that these are days of celebration through music and worship – they aren't talent show days, though they are days of people using their gifts and talents for God. I again say that we are a congregation that is blessed with gifted people – whether the gifts are of music or voice or leadership or servanthood. Thanks to all who shared their particular gifts and talents in yesterday's service.

Our goal for our Easter Offering was an ambitious one. I'm sure that you are aware that the goal is based on a percentage of our regular church giving, and that we receive these offerings to support our missionaries– those who go in our place to share the Good News of Jesus [the meaning of Easter!] in other world areas.

I don't want to give too much away as Nadine will share the amount we raised during the year Sunday coming at our Annual Meeting . . . but congratulations, Trinity!

Ah, yes . . . our Annual Meeting . . . a time to look back and celebrate the year past and to look forward and dream and plans for the year[s] ahead. This year's Annual Meeting will follow the coming Sunday's service. Our message is titled Looking Back – but we won't stop with the past. Ministry reports [including a financial report and our budget] will be shared following our service.

After our Annual Meeting we will gather for our traditional post-meeting sandwich potluck. Please bring a tray of sandwiches or finger food and a salad or dessert as we fellowship together.

One of the things that excites me about being part of Trinity Church is the willingness to try new things. While the first thought following a new idea presented may be "we've never done it that way before", the words aren't immediately uttered. We think about different suggestions before we accept or reject them: rather than saying "that won't work" we ask "how can we make that work?" Which brings us to May 26.

We are looking at a new ministry opportunity on the 26th. We have invited the Ottawa Misfits motorcycle group to join us for our service [and thank you for supporting me in this new idea!]. We will prepare breakfast for the group at 9:30 before moving into our worship service – which will be followed by a "blessing of the bikes". Pray that God will bless and use this outreach opportunity for His glory. Our message: We're All Misfits!

Dr. Riley Coulter will join us the weekend of June 1-2 and will again share a seminar on Wills and Estate planning. Reports are that the larger percentage of Canadians do not have a will or a plan for their future. We are opening the seminar to others in our community – invite someone to the seminar to learn!

Our spring church work day is this Saturday, May 4. Please help us out as we clean and repair the building and property after the winter. There is work to be done inside and outside . . . "share" your morning with us! We have asked the other groups who use the building to join us and work with us in our tasks.

The Ottawa Hospital is looking for donations for their emergency clothing cupboard. Trinity Church has agreed to be a "pick-up point". Clothing is provided to patients who do not have appropriate clothing due to accidents traumatic incidents, or homelessness. A collection box can be found on the bench in the [upper] fellowship hall. Please bring your clothes donations to the church by this Sunday.

Spring, spring, spring! It is "Community Garden" time. Registration for garden plots took place last Wednesday evening. There was a great response again this year; so much so that we have had to ask those who have been able to use two plots to sever their double plots at the end of this growing season so that those on a waiting list can garden next year. Appreciation to Trinity Church was expressed for allowing the gardeners use of the land.

Congratulations to Nadine, whose role with Ingredion Canada has changed to Lean Management Specialist [ask her what that is!] and will now be working at and leading change at two of their Ontario plants.
